Enjoy Japan
I would like to share our experience and findings in our Japan trip.
Day 1 (30 June 2009, Raining)
Narita Airport (成田空港) → Shinjuku (新宿) → Keio Plaza Hotel (京王プラザホテル)
We took the flight from Hong Kong to Tokyo. There was a little accident. We needed to stay on the plane for another 2 hours. The pilot said the runway of Narita Airport was closed temporarily (not sure the reason behind!) and would land at the New Tokyo International Airport. When we landed at the New Tokyo International Airport, the pilot announced that we would fly back and land at Narita Airport as planned. It was almost 6:10 pm by the time we arrived at the airport. Due to the tight schedule, we immediately collected our luggage and looked for the location of JR Express to Shinjuku. Thanks to a convenient train and subway channel with signs in English, it was easy to find the way out. Meanwhile, one of the Japanese guy who went to the same hotel led us there. Thus, we walked and talked (of course, in English). Thanks to that guy !
After checking in and leaving the luggage in our room, we took the map and went out for our late dinner and shopping (although the shopping mall was closed at 8 p.m., the convenience stores and game shops were still opened). We ate Japanese udon in the nearby restaurant and headed to the Kabuki-Cho (歌舞伎の町). We took some pictures and bought some Takoyaki (焼墨魚) and some drinks. It tasted おいしい. Yummy!
Day 2 (1 July 2009, Cloudy)
Keio Plaza Hotel (京王プラザホテル) → Tokyo Disney Sea (東京ディズニーシー)
おはようございます (Good morning). That's what we heard every morning. We took the breakfast at the hotel and enjoyed those wide varieties of Japanese breakfast, including the steam eggs, yogurt, bread, congee, salmon, rice, miso soup, juice etc. We then took the train to the Tokyo Disney Sea by using the Suica which is the same function as HK's Octopus Card. It is a prepaid e-money card for traveling and shopping within the Tokyo metropolitan area.
In Disney Sea, we played several rides, such as (1) Tower of Terror: an unexpected event. If you want something "surprising" and "unexpected", please go there and enjoy yourself completely. Another one was (2) the Storm Rider. It brought you to the flying weather laboratory and experience the world of turbulence of powerful winds and rains. (3) Sindbad's Storybook Voyage was a nice place to visit, too. (4) 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea would bring you down to see different kinds of features in the dark and cold sea. Besides, we also visited the (5) Broadway Music Theatre - Big Band Beat which was a glittery show featuring lively singing and dancing by a live band and Disney characters, (6) Disney Sea Transit Steamer Line could take you from one area to another area in order to save your energy by walking and walking. (7) Mermaid Lagoon Theater was a mammoth show. The girl who wore the "mermaid" custom looked like as if she were the real Mermaid swimming in an ocean. Lunch! We ate the Turkey Leg in Nautilus Gallery. It was worth trying and couldn't believe the big bone inside the turkey leg. Yummy! (おいしい). At 8 p.m., we stood in front of the Mediterranean Harbor to view the show of BraviSEAmo! It was an extravagant show of the mixture of the fire and water. Great!
Day 3 (2 July 2009, Raining)
Keio Plaza Hotel (京王プラザホテル) → Asakusa (浅草) → Ginza (銀座) → 幕張 Factory Outlet → Daiba (台場)
おはようございます. Although it was raining, our purchasing power and sightseeing did not declined. We took the train to Asakusa and bought a lot of souvenirs. We ate the Japanese noodles at noon. Thereafter, we went to 不二家 located at Ginza to buy my favourite 牛奶妹. I couldn't help screaming by the time I saw those adorable 牛奶妹. Again, we took the train as usual to go to 台場 as scheduled. We visited the Venus Fort, Palette Town, Seaside mall, and Mega Web. Since most of the shops were on sales, we bought a lot of stuffs and gifts too. Wow, really enjoy shopping! I would highly recommend to buy those mechanical pencils with a Japanese cartoon character on the top of each pencils at the 100円 Shop. When we felt hungry, we ate 冷麺 that came with 生わさび for us to put inside the sauce. Em...interesting ! I guess the kids might love to go to the Mega Web where the kids can enjoy several rides.
Day 4 ( 3 July 2009, Cloudy)
Keio Plaza Hotel (京王プラザホテル) → Shinjuku → Narita Airport (成田空港)
おはようございます. After breakfast, we then went to the shopping mall to do the last and final shopping. We ate 寿司 as our lunch just nearby the shopping mall. We then went back to the hotel to pick up our luggage and got on the Airport Limousine to 成田空港 at 2:50 p.m. Our plane arrived at Hong Kong at around 10:20 p.m.
To recap, the trip was wonderful and shopping was great amid the big sales. Tokyo has many tourist attractions for us to visit. It indeed should take couple weeks to see all the major attractions in Tokyo. Not to mention that Tokyo offers plenty of shopping for us and is definitively a major fashion hub of the world and thus offers us the chance to indulge in shopping, such as Ginza (銀座) , Roppongi (六本木) etc. I highly recommend that Tokyo is a must-see stop on any trip to Japan.
